It Isn’t a Proper Cinco de Mayo Without a Proper Guacamole

Published on May 5, 2014 in Snacks.

Guacamole is one of those snacks or toppings that can be made about 1,000 different ways. Do you use garlic? What about cilantro?

After years of experimentation, I’ve settled on neither garlic nor cilantro and instead gone with this recipe you see here below.

In honor of Cinco de Mayo, you can bet I’ll be throwing this guacamole together tonight. I hope you do the same.

Guacamole Recipe

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

2 avocados
1 medium white onion, diced
1 Roma tomato, diced
2 t. lime juice
1 Anaheim Chili, diced (optional)
1/2 t. Salt
1/2 t. Cumin, ground
Cholula to taste

Instructions

  • Mash all ingredients together.
  • Keep avocado pit in bowl to prevent browning.
  • Cover mixture with cellophane.

  1. Yum. Just this weekend we were discussing the gourmet meals you fixed for us. I’m allergic to avocados but I kniw someone who cam inhale a bowl of guac in a split second. Will give this a try! Thanks for sharing!
